Company’s new generation of exercise machines tested at Active Gold in Mirfield

A firm’s new generation of power-assisted exercise equipment for older people has been tested and refined in Mirfield.

Huddersfield-based Innerva will launch the equipment next week at Elevate, the UK’s largest fitness tradeshow in London.

Innerva brand ambassador Mr Motivator, aka Derrick Errol Evans, will be on the company’s stand on Wednesday June 17.

He will also appear on the Debate Stage alongside his team of ‘motivators’ to discuss active ageing and how the industry can better support an older population.

The new machines, which have had real-world testing at the company’s research centre in Mirfield, reflect Innerva’s commitment to helping more people stay active, independent and confident through exercise.

At the heart of the project has been a co-design process involving older adult exercisers, who worked closely with Innerva’s product development team to evaluate and refine the new designs.

The two brand new machines – the Pec & Deltoid and the Abductor/Adductor – were developed and tested at Innerva’s demonstration and research facility, Active Gold in Mirfield.

Throughout the programme, equipment was repeatedly adjusted, reviewed and refined in response to direct user feedback and comparisons with existing models.

Matt Holland, head of product development at Innerva, said: “This project has been shaped by the people who use our equipment every day.

“By working directly with older adults throughout the design process, we’ve created a range that is easier to access, more comfortable to use and better equipped to support healthy ageing and independent living.

“As demand continues to grow for inclusive exercise solutions that help people remain active for longer, these new designs provide a strong platform for future innovation and expansion across the Innerva range.”

Shaun Fox, director at Active Gold, said: “Innerva’s power-assisted exercise circuit makes such a difference to the lives of our members, helping them to maintain their mobility, confidence and independence.

“They really valued the opportunity to work with the team to help refine the design of the equipment, which has led to improvements in usability, comfort and accessibility for all users.”
