A dedicated group of supporters have embarked on organising a spectacular two-day event to mark the 40th anniversary of The Kirkwood, the hospice for Kirklees.
Building on the success of the 2025 charity ball, which raised an incredible £50,000 for the hospice, the Ultimate Charity Ball Committee is planning something bigger and better in 2027 for the landmark anniversary.
The committee, made up of Hilary Green, Steve Green, Jeremy Hoyle, Carolyn Atkinson, Claire Hoyle, Aquil Khan and David Atkinson, delivered an unforgettable evening at The Venue, Bowers Mill, Barkisland, last year.
And on Friday and Saturday, March 5 and 6 2027, the ‘40th Anniversary Masquerade Ball’ promises to be something special.
Demand for tickets is expected to be high after all 320 tickets for last October’s event sold out within two months.

Committee member Aquil Khan said: “The generosity was unbelievable. People gave because almost everyone has been touched by the hospice in some way.
“It’s a small world, and people understand how important a place like this is.”
The committee has expressed heartfelt thanks to the community for their overwhelming support, from businesses who sponsored and attended, to individuals who donated auction prizes and purchased raffle tickets.
Many performers and suppliers also reduced their fees or donated their time, helping to maximise the funds raised.
Committee member Jeremy Hoyle added: “It is our immense pleasure to support The Kirkwood in their continuous fundraising efforts.
“As individuals, we all share a deep affiliation with The Kirkwood, having seen close family and friends receive the superb end-of-life support the staff so passionately offer and deliver.”
